“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”

Matthew 11:28-30

Real talk: One of my biggest struggles in everyday life is reaching out for help (whoops my enneagram type 2 is showing). God longs for us to lay our burdens at his feet and find rest in him. Yet, why is it that God seems to be a last resort when we cannot do something ourselves? Of course, when we need strength or something good to happen we pray and ask for help. But I am talking about when we feel helpless and alone; when our tire gets a flat and we have no means to provide for a new one, when school gets tough, friends become busy, work is just becomes overwhelming. I have good news for you.

You are not alone.

Monday morning I was sitting in my car listening to “Run to the Father” by Cody Carnes and all I could think was how stressed I had been with all the things that needed to be done. But as I kept listening, I could feel God tugging on my heart. The song says “I run to the Father, I Fall into grace, I'm done with the hiding, no reason to wait, my heart needs a surgeon, my soul needs a friend, So ill run to the father again and again and again”. This chorus was a reminder of how constant God’s presence is and our need to continuously lean on Him. Running to God in the midst of the chaos has been the biggest blessing in my life and is something I am striving to do daily.

We don’t have to run this race alone and can find peace in Him. I pray and encourage you to lean into His grace and lay down your worries and stress. There is nothing greater than the sacrifice and love God has for his children, especially when we need Him most.

Lyrics Below

I've carried a burden
For too long on my own
I wasn't created
To bear it alone

I hear Your invitation
To let it all go
Yeah I see it now
I'm laying it down
And I know that I need You

(I run to the Father
I fall into grace
I'm done with the hiding
No reason to wait

My heart needs a surgeon
My soul needs a friend
So I'll run to the Father
Again and again
And again and again)

Oh, oh, oh

You saw my condition
Had a plan from the start
Your Son for redemption
The price for my heart

And I don't have a context
For that kind of love
I don't understand
I can't comprehend

All I know is I need You

Oh, oh, again and again
And again and again

Oh, oh

(My heart has been in Your sights
Long before my first breath
Running into Your arms
Is running to life from death

And I feel this rush deep in my chest
Your mercy is calling out
Just as I am You pull me in
And I know I need You now) x2
