Scripture:

“Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” - James 4:7

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit has set you free from the law of sin and death.” - Romans 8:1-2

“Surely God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense he has become my salvation.” - Isaiah 12:2

As I reflect on these verses I find them very comforting. There is a part that really stands out to me and is something I struggle with. “I will trust and not be afraid.” How hard is it to trust something we can not see? In our society and world there are constantly things and people that let us down. There is nothing earthly that I have 100% trust in. Is this why I struggle to trust God? I worry so much in my daily life, how am I supposed to flip everything and entirely trust God?

As I reflect on my life and how fear has played a role, I have absolute certainty that fear is of satan; a tactic of satan. Fear leads to very strong emotions developing in such a way that they take over us and control us. We lose our hold on our emotion and instead, they have a hold on us and therefore our actions start and words start to spiral out of control.

The thing is, satan wants us to buy into fear, he wants us to feel like God isn’t there. I think if we stand strong and remember what the Bible tells us about God and his character, we have nothing to fear. Let us remember to lean into the good and the light. Let us not forget who the Lord is: he is our salvation.
