Monday Afternoons

Money Mondays

A group where we empower students to take control of their financial future. We understand the importance of effective money management in achieving long-term financial success. Our mission is to equip our students with the tools and expertise needed to make informed financial decisions, set realistic goals, and build a strong foundation for financial stability.
We’ve hired a financial expert to lead this virtual group through brief, interactive zoom sessions on select Monday evenings. Over the course of the semester, we will cover a wide range of topics related to money management. Our sessions include understanding budgeting, managing debt, investing, retirement planning, and much more. We believe that by educating our students on these crucial aspects, we can help them develop the confidence and knowledge necessary to make sound financial choices.

Bible Study

Join us every Tuesday night in our space for a free dinner and discussion on the Christian scriptures. We will also be studying MLK’s concept of The Beloved Community.

Dinner starts at 6pm and our study is from 7-8 PM.

Modality / Location: In-person, on-location at 6:00pm /7-8pm

We will begin the semester by studying the Book of Timothy, a letter written to encourage a young leader during a challenging time. This book serves as an ideal resource to help college students grow in their faith, whether they are new or lifelong Christians.

In February, in honor of Black History month, our Bible Study will be led by The King Center in Atlanta.

In March and April we will transition to offering a certificate from the King Center, focusing on King’s concept of Nonviolence. This certificate will look great on a resume! 🙂

Registration is required for the Nonviolence training.

Our discussions will be led by Rev. Erwin Lopez, student intern Lily Stride, and leaders of the King Center.

Rev. Lopez holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida International University and a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. He enjoys interpreting scripture through MLK’s Vision of The Beloved Community.

Lily Stride is a third-year college student pursuing a career in music with a passion for worship and building community.

The King Center is a historic site and a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and advancing his principles of nonviolence and social justice. It was established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, Dr. King's widow, shortly after his assassination.

This group is open to all college-age young adults, UCF staff, and students in the Orlando area.
